Our little shop in Loughborough; Peek-a-boobaby

Hello. and welcome to my brand spanking new website, which my eldest son reliably informs me is called a web-log or blog!

My name is Alison. I live in a small town just outside Nottingham and I own and run a small baby boutique in Loughborough called Peek-a-boobaby. You can find us via google maps here.

Myself and my husband Garry have been running the stop for nearly three years (can’t believe that!) and I also work as a primary school teacher three days a week at a local school.

I’m a mum to five children, the youngest being Tommy, who is 15, then there is Katy who is nearly 18, Lucy who is 20, Sophie who is 22 and finally Tim who is nearly 25!  Tom and Kate are the only ones not to have flown the nest (yet!) and I’m dreading the day the house will have no kids in it! At least they will still be Daisy and Barney, our two gorgeous brown labs to keep us busy (though luckily enough, they don’t expect the same taxi service that the kids did!)

My eldest Tm works in the glam world of digital marketing and has suggested a great way to promote our business would be to start blogging, twittering, facebooking and all the other things my kids seem to be doing too!

So here I am, giving it a go! With so many years experience of bringing up my kids (phew!) and other children (in my capacity as a teacher), I feel there is loads of stuff I can share with mums, new and old!

This blog is going to be my space to write about new products coming into the shop (you’ll hear about them here first!), keeping you up to date with new innovations and trends I see emerging in the nursery industry and finally just to join in the vast amounts of conversation being had by parents around the globe! 

We’ve also set up a page here which I hope you find useful. It’s a site which ‘aggregates’ (thanks Tim!) loads of great sites that I read all the time onto one site, which I thought other mums would find useful too! I’ve split between different categories so there is a tab about the shop, a tab with a load of conversations on Twitter covering parenting topics, a tab on news and views from some respected parenting magazines, blogs and forums and finally a tab for the nursery industry.

So please get in touch if you have any comments, are interested in the shop, our products or perhaps just want some advice whether you are a seasoned old pro like me (!) or are completely new to the world or parenting!
